Pakistani Military Eliminates Dozens of Militants
(MENAFN) In a recent announcement, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media division of Pakistan’s armed forces, reported that a minimum of 34 insurgents were eliminated during a sequence of counterterrorism operations conducted in the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the military's statement, these security offensives were carried out between October 13 and 15 across the districts of Bannu, North Waziristan, and South Waziristan — regions that share a border with Afghanistan. These actions were part of ongoing efforts to combat militant activity in the area.
The report detailed that 18 militants were "killed" during a "intelligence-based operation" in the Spinwam region of North Waziristan.
Additionally, another eight insurgents were taken down in South Waziristan during a separate operation.
In a different incident within Bannu district, security personnel also "neutralized" eight more militants, demonstrating the military’s continued campaign against armed groups operating in the region.
Just the previous week, ISPR stated that military forces had eliminated at least 30 militants in Orakzai district.
These individuals were reportedly linked to a recent assault on security personnel.
Pakistan has been facing a renewed wave of extremist violence in the past few years.
Officials in Islamabad blame the Afghan government for not effectively preventing fighters associated with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) from utilizing Afghan territory to orchestrate attacks within Pakistan.
However, Afghan authorities have rejected these allegations, asserting that they are firmly dedicated to ensuring that their land is not used for cross-border aggression.
